Special Project: Niigata, Japan Earthquake 2007 Relief Fund
At 10:13 AM on Monday, July 16, 2007 (Japan time), a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Japan Sea off the western coast of Japan.
Dale led a relief team of 15 people to the quake site from July 23-28. Bryan, Matthew, and Kristy were on the team. At the site, we were joined be several other teams from within Japan. We transported people/ supplies, hauled away debris, cooked, distributed water, set up storage sheds for people to move their belongings into (from their destroyed houses), helped with child care in order to free up parents, etc. Our relief teams were under the supervision of CRASH Japan (www.crashjapan.blogspot.com), working in close partnership with local churches.
The purpose of this NIIGATA EARTHQUAKE RELIEF FUND was to defray the costs of our relief ministry. Donors in Japan covered most of this financial special project.
Any donations not used toward this relief team will be donated to CRASH Japan or some other Japan Evangelical Missionary Association (www.jema.org) affiliated relief organization which is continuing to help in the aftermath of the quake. Relief operations will continue for months.
