One key aspect of our ministry in Japan is to encourage and model church planting. Church planting is more than merely the best pragmatic means for fulfilling the Great Commission. We believe that church planting, including both its birthing and maturing aspects, is historically and theologically the focal point of the Great Commission. We are thus personally committed to making church planting a priority in our ministry in Japan. Our desire is to plant healthy churches, encourage planted churches toward further maturity in Christ, and partner with churches that are themselves planting churches. Our mission organization, the Evangelical Free Church of Canada Mission (EFCCM), shares this vision. Church planting is an important ingredient of its purpose statement: "The EFCCM exists to serve in the birth and growth of healthy churches internationally." | |
