Sunrise Chapel in HIgashimurayma City, Tokyo, began in 1992 under the leadership of Andrew Furuyama, former pastor of the mother church, Tokyo Musashino EFC. In 1999 we were asked to lead the church plant. We did so until 2003 when the church was able to call its first full time pastor. We overlapped in leadership with him until 2004.

The congregation of Sunrise Chapel is shown above at the left in 1999 and at the right in 2003.

Lay leadership was emphasized during our project.

Our worship services began in a small space.

We moved to a larger facility rental near a train station in 2001, allowing for larger worship services.

Sunday afternoons often involved meals and various meetings.

Dale carried the preaching and leadership responsibilities until Pastor Hayasaka was called as the first pastor.

Outdoor baptism.

At Christmas each year Ann and the ladies held outreach meetings. Ann would teach a craft and tell a Christmas Bible story. Most of the ladies at these meetings were from Ann's evangelistic English classes.

Ann's English class ladies and a few visitors at a spring party.
