In August 2007 the English congregation of Tokyo Musashino Evangelical Free Church asked us to become its part time interim pastoral couple for one year during the sabbatical of its pastor. The congregation has a desire to plant another church. The English congregation of Tokyo Musashino EFC is enthusiastic in its various outreach ministries in Tokyo, especially to Japanese people. The desire of the church to plant another internationally minded church in Tokyo aligns well with our interests of church planting in Tokyo.

We accepted the invitation and began our part time one year interim pastoral ministry at the English congregation of Tokyo Musashino EFC on November 1, 2007. During our interim pastoral ministry we will be developing the foundation for the future church planting project and then we will lead that project after our interim pastorate is complete.

NOTE ABOUT FINANCES

Any income from this one year part time interim pastorate will not increase our salary. Rather, it will be applied to our supporter income just as any North American church might financially support us. For the past few years we have been in a support lacking posture which has required us to use personal funds (salary) in order to cover some ministry expenses. Future income from Tokyo Musashino EFC will give us a healthier financial support structure, finally allowing us to reach the 100% fully supported level.
